Together, AMD and Intel hold 99.1 percent market share of the central processing units sold for Q3/2011. In this, Intel had an 80.3 percent share while; AMD added up to 18.8 percent.
RAM And Slots:
The amount of RAM and the number of slots that a motherboard can hold is mostly reliant on the model and make of the motherboard. It certainly affects cost. Hence, the motherboard that has more RAM compatibility and/or more SATA ports will cost more.
Price:
However, a sweeping statement is that the AMD brand tends to be cheaper than the Intel brand. Intel is contemplated by the majority of users to have better performance, even if by a little margin. Because of that, Intel is contemplated to be priced higher.
Hence, AMD is now contemplated to be the budget option, whereas the Intel brand has become synonymous with the performance option.
